What is Moroccan Rhassoul Clay and how can it help me?
Moroccan rhassoul clay is a fantastic beauty tool that can help visibly improve the appearance of your facial skin within minutes! It’s a lovely ochre colored clay with a silky smooth texture. Mined in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, this extraordinary mineral-rich clay is known for its unmatched ability to absorb impurities from the skin. It cleanses deep, clearing pores and tightening skin without harsh scrubs or chemicals.
Rhassoul contains naturally high levels of skin-loving, beneficial minerals such as magnesium, calcium, potassium and iron. Used regularly, rhassoul clay can improve skin tone, texture, elasticity, and clarity while eliminating dryness and flakiness. Experience the wonderful benefits of rhassoul clay in our spa-quality masks! Both our Pomegranate Mask and our Balance Mask contain rhassoul for beautiful, clear skin!
Rhassoul clay has been used as a beauty tool for centuries by Roman and Egyptian nobility. Recorded use of Rhassoul dates back to the 1400’s, where it was used as a skin conditioner, soap and shampoo. It’s a secret weapon in high-end spa body treatments.
As you age, your skin often does not retain the necessary trace minerals to keep it firm and wrinkle free. The high concentration of natural minerals in rhassoul help replenish depleted minerals in your skin, resulting in a firmer, plumper, and more even-toned complexion.
One of it’s most impressive properties, absorption of harmful substances and detoxification, is due to a high rate of ion exchange. Rhassoul also has natural antimicrobial properties, making it an effective ingredient for detoxification and blemish-prone. Clinical testing has shown Rhassoul to be effective in improving skin elasticity, unclogging pores, and removing dead skin cells and excess surface oils. It can also be used as a scalp treatment to absorb oil, dirt, sebum and cleanse and clarify hair. No natural beauty tool kit should be without this fabulous clay!
To use your natural clay masks: Add 1 teaspoon warm water or liquid to 1 Tablespoon of clay powder in a small bowl or cup. Add more water if you prefer a thinner mask and less water if you like your facial mask to be thicker. While clays can be applied with your fingers, a fast and even application can be achieved by using a makeup brush to “paint” the clay mix onto your skin. Be sure to apply under your jawline and even down your neck and décolletage. Don’t use your expensive brushes. An inexpensive blush or foundation brush from your local dollar store is perfect! Rinse it well after application and stand upright to air dry.
Allow your mask to dry 5-15 minutes. Most people with normal to oily skin should easily be able to allow 10-15 minutes to dry. Drier and more sensitive skin types may wish to only leave it on for 5 minutes before removing. To remove, use a warm wet washcloth to soften the dry clay before gently washing off. Alternatively, you can apply your mask treatment just before your shower and simply wash it off there.
There are endless customizable ways to use natural clays like our Balance and Pomegranate masks. In place of plain warm water, you can also use your favorite gentle toner or hydrosol. These will add extra skin-soothing or astringent benefits depending on your choice of liquid. Raw organic honey boasts numerous conditioning, healing and antibacterial properties. For blemished or problem skin, honey is a “must have” add in! Freshly pureed organic fruits and vegetables add another layer of skin healing nutrients. Strawberries, high in vitamin C, are excellent for their astringent and brightening properties. Cucumber soothes and conditions stressed or sensitive skin. Plain, unsweetened yogurt added to your rhassoul treatments will provide natural lactic acid, resulting in glowing skin without resorting to harsh synthetic chemical peels. The options for creating the perfect beauty mask are already at your fingertips! You are limited only by your imagination!
